Not a lot

So... what happened this past week?

Not too much, actually. We took my Grandma out for lunch at a local nursery (the flower kind, not the child kind!) on Saturday. Err, we went shopping, had sunday lunch at my Mums... not a lot else really!

It's my last week at work this week then I've got 2 weeks off. Can't wait!

Joe is teething quite badly and has an infected finger from something so we've bought him all sorts of stuff from the chemist, who was really helpful. More so than the doctor who takes one look at you and prescribes anti-biotics (broken arm? Penicillin! Gun shot wound? Guess what you need!). Hopeless.

One exciting thing happened to Ele though. She was walking home from the shops with Saffron, Jess, Anise & Joe and suddenly a car came screeching into our road at mega-high speed and pulled into the new flats into a covered parking bay and hid there. Moments later a police car whizzed up the main road to the roundabout. Obviously it had been after this guy. Ele hid behind a fence and called 999 to tell them where the car was and to get the police car to turn around. But they insisted on taking her name, address, age, shoe-size, eye-colour, star-sign etc etc which took ages. Ele was getting agitated saying "just get the police car back, you can take these in a minute!" but no, they wanted all those details first. The car drove off after a couple of minutes and so the police didn't get their man. How stupid is that?

So remember, when you're being attacked or burgled, be prepared to answer 20 questions first!

Rubbish Weekend

What a rubbish weekend. Saturday was mostly spent doing horrible chores. Mowed the lawn, took the old tumble drier and a bunch of other stuff to the dump, went to Sutton for lunch, went food shopping, went to my Mums so they could see Joe before they go on holiday, did some washing, tidied Jessicas room ready for her to come back etc etc.

Sunday we were supposed to meet Jess at Oxford Services on the M40, but we ended up having to goto Star City in Birmingham to meet instead. Then they were really late getting there because they were stuck in traffic, so rather than being home by about 2pm as we'd hoped, we were home at half past 6. We then went to Ele's mums for dinner.

The rest of the week was pretty uneventful, except for sorting out or holiday. Ele called the place to reserve a cot for our holiday to Cornwall in a couple of weeks time and they said they had no record of our booking! They then went off to check and came back and said they'd found it - FOR 2007!! Argh! Our email confirmation definately said 2006 so obviously somebody had written down the wrong dates somewhere. There was much frantic phoning between Honicome Manor (where we are staying) and Paramount Holiday Pass (who we booked it through at a FANTASTIC rate). They still had availability for 2006 though so it was all ammended, and Paramount even called us to apologise. Thank god we called to book a cot - otherwise we'd have turned up on the day to find all this out! Still they were all nice people to deal with apparantly (Ele sorted it out) and it's still a good price - £216 for the week, compared to the Honicome Manor site itself which states about £1500!
